At the end of the last month the little man and I were lucky enough to have a little trip to the theatre at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama to watch The Little Angle Theatre puppet production "Dogs don't do Ballet" and we were hooked instantly just by the name, it's screams out curiosity and fun.

It can sometimes be hard to find age appropriate shows but this one was perfect for toddlers and children aged 2-6 yrs old. The story is based around a dog called Biff who unlike ordinary dogs likes music and walking on his tiptoes and is convinced he is not a dog but rather a ballerina. This is brought to life through beautiful puppets, ballet music and comedy and it had a lot of laugh out loud moments for both toddlers and adults. It mixes puppets and performers together with the show starting with one of the performers taking the role of the ballet dancer and getting the children to do some ballet moves in their seat, which went down really well and got everyone involved right from the start.

I am a huge fan of Theatre, I think it stems from my parents taking me from a very young age and it's lovely to see how engaged and fixated the little man was with the puppets even though the performers make no attempt to be hidden at all. The Little Angel Theatre is know for it's beautiful puppetry and professional productions and I cannot wait for another one there shows to come to Cardiff.

Puppetry

It was the first time we have been to the Welsh College of Music and Drama (a long over due visit) and they had a great little cafe and since Mr A had been really good I let him pick a treat, which was a trifle, something he has not really had before and he got about half way through which was good for him. I had a lovely decaf cappuccino and the seating area has floor to ceiling glass panels that look out across Bute Park, which was blissful.

We were given tickets to review this production, our words and thoughts are 100% our own
