Travel Tuesday Flashback - Rural Wales

04/02/2014

Outdoor family

So with the little man growing up in front of our eyes I have been looking back on various photo albums of late and came across our first ever short break away with the little man who was around 6 months at the time. We didn't venture too far, to a small rural Welsh Village on the edge of the Brecon Beacons in Mid Wales. We hired a lovely and fairly basic small two room cottage on a farm, surrounded by nature, walks and best of all no Wifi - it was bliss.

We spent the four days exploring the local town - Llandeilo - with it's lovely little boutique shops, beautiful church and small winding roads. We enjoyed the local food, as well as taking advantage of that fact we where self-contained. Over those days we enjoyed many a cream tea as well as a glass of wine in front of the wood stone burner while listening to music.

One of our highlights was visiting Carrge Cennen Castle, which I have to say is one of the best castles in Wales for views, placed high on a hill, you sort of scramble up in a way you don't often see nowadays with health and safety and explore the ruins at your own pace. There is also a charming and rustic cafe at the base of the hill, looking up towards the Castle.

Having Mr A with us was a breeze, he loved every minute of it, especially being suited up in his all weather Daddy baby carrier. It has been to date one of our most stress-free breaks, mainly down to the simplicity of it. We didn't rush around from place to place but instead just enjoyed our surroundings and spending time with each other.

  7. Wales is looking beautiful in your pics! It's great to look back on past holidays together, when F was six months old we decided to take him to the Lake District during the worse floods ever! You can imagine how that went. Last November though we took our first holiday abroad together to Copenhagen and it was amazing! x

  11. I used to live right by Llandeilo! I don't know whether you heard about it whilst you were there, but there is a community called Tipi Valley not far from there nestled away in the hills! It's stunning and Llandeilo was the nearest town. I would love to go back to that area, it's been a long while!

Sounds like a perfect holiday, and I long for those baby days where going places is pretty easy!
