Llandaff cardiff

Well what a difference a few days make, John had Monday off this week so we decided to have a proper look around the old part of Llandaff City in Cardiff and do the Taff Trail circular walk near the old Cathedral that we have been meaning to do for a while. It was the last of the sunny days this week, so we had to make the most of it. We first had a little play around the old ruins that is Bishops Palace, a great little place to play an imagine you are a knight, there is also a wonderful tree to practise climbing on. Before we started out our walk we stopped off at The Malsters for a bite to eat, I had a lovely Greek salad and John went for a traditional ploughman's served on welsh slate and Mr A had a a chunky cheese sandwich. After our tummies were fill we set out on our little adventure.

We started out walking down past the Cathedral and the school fields, then a short walk past UWIC University campus onto the walkway which follows the Taff Trail. We looked out for buttercups, picked up sticks and played sword fights and walked down to the river were John show Mr A how to skim stones.

It was lovely spending some time by the river with the little man throwing rocks in and spotting some very pretty ducks. John has very good skimming skills and managed to skim a rock all the way to the other side of the river. Even though the circular walk was only around 1.5 miles we really took our time and had a lovely relaxing walk through a mixture of grassland and forested areas. We also came across a lovely weir on the way back and as we past the Cathedral there was beautiful music coming from inside, as there was a string cortet playing, perfect way to end the day.

  1. What a lovely way to spend the day, and in such beautiful surroundings. The pictures of Mr A and his Daddy with matching walks and Mr A looking up at his Daddy while skimming stones is adorable. Well done to Mr A for managing the walk as well - you obviously kept him entertained and happy. Thanks for coming over and sharing your family day outdoors with Country Kids.
