Easy Easter

Easy easter biscuits

So it's been a pretty hectic week, we came back from our break at the Hilton in Bath (see post below) and then had a fab time at the Ladies night in St Davids and all was going well until my mother fell ill and has been in hospital for the past few days (hopefully on the mend) so we decided to have a sort of laid back easter. Mr A painted some hollow eggs and helped make some very yummy wholemeal choccy biscuits and we had a great little easter egg hunt (mainly with fake eggs) although we only got him two small Lindt bunnies (the mini mini ones) and a Kinder-egg he didn't seem to notice at all as we don't really give him chocolate ever so this was more than enough.

Here is a super easy recipe for making biscuits with busy toddlers

100g unsalted butter, chilled and cut into cubes
100g wholemeal flour (I use Doves organic)
50g plain flour
1 tbsp cocoa powder
50g caster sugar
2/3 tbsp milk or soya milk

Sprinkles and icing for decorating

1. Preheat over to 180 degrees/ gas mark 4
2. In a mixing bowl rub the butter into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs. Add the cocoa powder, sugar and mix altogether. Add the milk slowly and mix together. You should have a cookie dough consistency that you can roll into a ball.
3. Roll the douhg out into 3mm thickness and get some shapers and start pressing away.
4. Place on baking tray and bake for about 10-12 minutes.
5. Decorate as you wish.

Hope you all had an amazing family day

  1. The biscuits look brilliant and a really good idea. Everybody who came to visit us in the run up to Easter brought eggs for the girls and they ended up with about 20 eggs, it's crazy.
Neither of them are big fans of chocolate and I'd never let them eat that much, so I'm afraid it'll be down to me to eat them!

Great to have another recipe to try. Love baking with the children.
